NRDC: Clean energy jobs are critical for rural Midwest
About 158,000 people living in rural parts of 12 Midwestern states work in clean energy, with the industry accounting for more rural jobs than fossil fuels ones in 10 of 12 states, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. Clean energy is important in the Midwest and more stable policies are needed, NRDC policy analyst and co-author Arjun Krishnaswami says.

Wind farm companies prepare to cancel projects in Ill. county
Apex Clean Energy, Orion Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy have each proposed a wind farm for Ford County, Ill., but say they'll have to relocate if the county adopts a more restrictive wind ordinance. "We want to build here, but if an ordinance is put in place that makes that impossible ... we will go elsewhere," says Pattern Energy's Adam Renz.

Minn. PUC delays wind farm vote amid out-of-state labor issues
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission has delayed a vote on RES' proposed 44-turbine Bitter Root wind farm, citing concerns about out-of-state labor. "We feel like this project has been singled out," Senior Development Manager Michelle Matthews says, noting the company uses both traveling crews and local job fairs to source workers.

Self-lifting crane is saving customers money, says E.ON unit
E.ON Energy Services has used its self-lifting crane on 100 occasions, reducing downtime and crane-related costs to save customers an estimated 20%, says Vice President of Business Development Kurt Anderson. Sierra Club: 100 US cities, towns have 100% clean energy targets

N.D. regulators reject 250-MW project from PNE unit
The Burleigh County Planning and Zoning Commission in North Dakota has rejected Pure New Energy USA's proposal to build the 250-megawatt Burleigh-Emmons project. The commission attributed its decision to property value concerns and the future expansion of a nearby airport.
