Taking Care of Business

Some might call it "synergy" but we just call it more good news for the environmentally responsible bottom line: seems that conserving water saves energy, too. Researchers from the U.S.'s National Resources Defense Council studied the connection between water and energy use in California, finding that the state's businesses and private consumers can lower their energy bills by conserving and using water more efficiently. And that's pretty good news for everyone, we reckon.

Also this week: Portland-based nonprofit Metafore offers a new tool to help wood buyers evaluate forest certification programs.
