Md. House votes to override veto on renewables standard
The Maryland House of Delegates has voted in favor of overriding Gov. Larry Hogan's veto of the Clean Energy Jobs Act, a bill that would increase the state's renewable energy portfolio standard to 25% by 2020. "This is one of the first state legislative votes nationwide to show that states will fight back when leaders like Hogan and the climate deniers in Washington attempt to thwart progress on clean energy jobs and global warming pollution," Chesapeake Climate Action Network Director Mike Tidwell.

Analysis: State legislatures to remain focused on clean energy, renewables
Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio and other states showed support for clean energy during the final days of 2016 and will likely continue to do so throughout 2017, according to Alli Gold Roberts, a state policy manager at Ceres. She argues that falling renewable energy costs and growing demand from major corporations create positive momentum that state lawmakers could use to advocate pro-clean-energy policies.
