Maine wind moratorium doesn't override existing law, says state AG
Maine Gov. Paul LePage's moratorium on new wind projects doesn't override the state's existing law, said Maine Attorney General Janet Mills, adding that her office would aid companies seeking permits during the ban. Wind advocates say the industry creates crucial construction jobs in Maine.

The US offshore wind industry is beginning to emerge on the Atlantic Coast due to the support of the Energy Department, state-level politics and advances in offshore wind technology, writes Tina Casey. She argues that a blog post published by the department last week shows the Trump administration is ready to invest in offshore wind research and development, which will help attract more investors and stimulate development.

Opinion: Wind farms near N.Y.'s Fort Drum should not be singled out
A proposal from New York Assemblywoman Addie Jenne that would block projects located within a certain distance of Fort Drum from receiving state support is unnecessary and should be rejected, writes Anne Reynolds, executive director of the Alliance for Clean Energy New York. It unfairly targets "wind farms that create electricity with no pollution and bring economic development worth millions of dollars," she writes, adding that the two industries already peacefully coexist.
