US offshore wind costs are falling, says expert
The cost of offshore wind is declining in the US due to advances in efficiency and larger turbines, said Stephanie McClellan, director of the University of Delaware's Special Initiative on Offshore Wind. She said two new offshore wind projects underway in Maryland have secured power purchase agreements for rates 45% lower than that of Block Island off the coast of Rhode Island.

Working in renewables feels good, says turbine technician
Working in renewables -- specifically with turbines -- is very rewarding because it contributes to clean energy production and the high-risk aspect of the job encourages strong ties and camaraderie with peers, said Meredith Halfpenny, a contractor for C&C Wind Energy Services in Ontario, Canada. Halfpenny said she spends most of her 10-hour work day outdoors inspecting turbine components and newly installed machinery.
