AWEA: Renewable power generated outside Calif. should count toward state goals
The American Wind Energy Association has concerns about amendments to a state bill in California that seeks to create a single Western grid authority. As currently written, the bill fails to credit renewable energy generated outside of California toward meeting the state's renewable-energy goals. "It seems to run counter to the objectives to open the market," said Danielle Osborn Mills, director of the AWEA California Caucus.

The National Audubon Society has come out in support of a wind farm on Lake Erie, provided danger to birds is minimized through the society's list of 34 recommendations. Fred Olsen Renewables and LEEDCo have proposed the 21-megawatt Icebreaker offshore wind farm.
