The Senate Finance Committee Monday voted to include biodiesel and ethanol tax incentives in the transportation bill. The provisions have minor improvements over those already included in the stalled energy package. This is a key move by Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) because Congress must deal with the expiring transportation package by February 29. Without Congressional action, funding for all major transportation projects and programs will end. As a result, there is a move in Congress to address these issues in the short term. The full Senate is expected to take up the transportation debate soon.
