Report: Global wind industry could add 65 GW annually through 2027

The global wind industry could add 65 gigawatts of new installed wind capacity annually from 2018 through 2027, according to consultancy Make. "The precipitous drop in pricing globally over the last year, particularly in the offshore sector, is certainly a rallying point for industry achievement but it needs to be proven," said Make.

Ark. clean energy transmission line agreement ended
The Energy Department and Clean Line Energy Partners, mutually canceled an agreement for the Arkansas portion of the Plains & Eastern Clean Line project, according to the agency. "The project is not dead, but it is on a much slower track," said Clean Line spokesman Sarah Bray.

Avangrid Renewables proposes electric bill offset initiative in N.Y. town
Avangrid Renewables has introduced a program that would offset 75% of Hopkinton, N.Y., residents' electricity bills for up to 30 years in response to community feedback regarding the proposed North Ridge Wind Energy Project. The company also addressed the topic of flashing lights by saying it would install a Federal Aviation Administration-approved radar-activated lighting system.

Vattenfall debuts visual rebrand, strategy shift
Vattenfall has introduced a new logo that it says reflects its "new values and offerings," which include shifting away from fossil fuel generation. Senior Vice President Group Communications Karin Lepasoon said the company will also consolidate 25 distinct brands into a single one.

Duke to continue investment in clean energy, grid technologies
Duke Energy said in a report that it plans to keep investing in clean energy sources as part of its goal to provide affordable, clean power and reduce carbon emissions 40% by 2030. The company also said that in the next 10 years it will invest $25 billion for grid improvements and smart grid technologies.

Data center provider offsets 100% of electricity use in Ohio
H5 Data Centers has purchased enough renewable energy credits sourced from wind, solar and other clean energy sources to offset 100% of its electricity used at its Cleveland data center, according to the firm. "The REC purchasing program allows our customers and H5 Data Centers the ability to invest in sustainability initiatives for data centers that have a significant carbon footprint," said CEO Josh Simms.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton declared last Thursday "Clean Energy Business Day," in celebration of the state's clean energy workers and advocacy efforts. Okla. House, Senate panels advance bill capping wind support
Oklahoma's House and Senate budget panels advanced a bill on Thursday that would cap the state's income tax credits for wind producers at $35 million per year. "With the continued punitive actions against wind, our state stands to lose out on the potential of billions in future investment, and that's not limited to wind," said The Wind Coalition's Mark Yates.
